Jennifer Van grew up in California’s Central Valley, receiving a B.F.A in Graphic Arts and a B.A. in Art History – with honors. She has been exhibited in various galleries across the Central Valley, including a solo show at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center. As a recipient of various travel grants, she had the opportunity to travel across the United States.

With her art history background, she critically analyzes the expression of the emotional qualities found within the human form. This expression is manifested through the artist’s methodical practices, such as the process of blurring, which allows an ephemeral layering of imagery.

Van’s interest in the viewer’s perception and interpretation of her work is considered through her artistic process. With her emotive photographs, she ignites an emotional reaction within the viewer, which is derived from their own personal histories.
